为满足读者需要，《汉语分级阅读：3000词》在编写过程中进行了精心设计：①对每篇故事中超出上述词汇以外的词、难词、专有名词、俗语及难句都进行了旁注，一些常用词给出了例句。②尽量增加常用词的复现率，以此增强读者对汉语常用词的理解与记忆。③句子力求简短，结构完整，尽量避免结构复杂的长句。④故事正文均配上拼音，使学生尽可能地通过读音记忆词义和查阅词典。⑤为方便读者能够按自己的兴趣任意挑选某篇故事去阅读，注释都是以单篇故事为单位重复出现的。⑥为提高学生的听力水平，《汉语分级阅读：3000词》配有MP3格式的CD光盘。⑦为适应学生的不同需求，《汉语分级阅读：3000词》配有可以隐去拼音的拼音隐形卡。⑧除此之外，每篇故事还配有插图，以帮助学生更直观地了解故事内容。《汉语分级阅读：3000词》的编写宗旨是进一步降低汉语阅读的难度，帮助学生提高汉语阅读和汉语听力的水平。
